Close to Moab, Cluster Canyon is a great, short outing that is very beginner friendly. Although not highly technical or very long, the canyon offers great scenery, easy access, and varied terrain. Cluster Canyon is highly recommended if you have a few hours and are looking for an outing close to Moab. There are no "slot" canyons of note in the immediate Moab area, although there are several substitutes. One I recommend is a trip known by most outfitters as Ephedra's Grotto. It's an awesome canyoneering experience. LWHC is your best bet, about a 90 minute drive. Pretty much all paved or improved roads getting there. In Moab, though, you might look at taking a guided adventure tour in Ephedra's Grotto (Cliffs and Canyons offers it). This is a fantastic half-day rappelling adventure that essentially drops into Negro Bill Canyon (mentioned earlier). Have fun. Burr Trail's Singing Canyon.
